Onion Soup

  • 1/4 cup [60 g] butter
  • 4 large onions, sliced
  • 3 [10-ounce / 284-mL each] cans beef consomme
  • 1 teaspoon [5 mL] Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon [2.5 mL] salt
  • Pepper, to taste
  • Cinnamon, to taste
  • 1/4 cup [60 mL] dry white wine
  • Dry breadcubes, to taste
  • Any grated cheese, to taste
  • Into a casserole, melt onion slices into melted butter over low heat for 20 minutes.
  • Stir in beef consomme and Worcestershire sauce; bring to a boil.
  • Sprinkle soup with salt, pepper and cinnamon.
  • Pour in dry white wine.
  • Serve soup immediately, along with dry breadcubes and grated cheese into separate serving bowls.
