Pie Crust
Comments: Leave crust to cool completely before filling.
Servings: 1 [9-inch / 23-cm] crust
IngredientsPreparation
  • 1 1/2 cups [210 g] all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup [115 g] shortening
  • 3 tablespoons [45 mL] cold water
  • Preheat oven to 425°F [220°C].
  • Sift flour; add salt and sift flour once more.
  • Using a pastry cutter, cut in shortening until mixture is of the size of peas.
  • Stir in 1 tablespoon [15 mL] cold water at a time, stirring until mixture shapes into a ball.
  • Pressing with your fingers, line bottom and sides of a 9-inch [23-cm] pie plate with dough.
  • Bake pie chell into preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes, until just golden.
  • Remove from oven and immediately prick dough with a fork.
  • Leave to cool completely.
