- 2 tablespoons [30 g] sugar
- 1 teaspoon [5 mL] salt
- 1 tablespoon [15 g] shortening
- 1 1/3 cups [330 mL] boiling water
- 1 pack [15 g / 1 tablespoon] active dry yeast
- 2/3 cup [160 mL] hot, yet not boiling water
- Approximately 4 cups [560 g] flour

- Away from heat, mix together sugar, salt and shortening into boiling water, stirring until warm.
- Mix together yeast and hot water, then stir into warm sugar mixture.
- Stir in enough of the flour to get a thick dough that does not stick any more to your fingers.
- Grease a pizza plate; line plate with pizza dough.
- Leave dough to rise for approximately 15 minutes.
