Pizza Dough
Comments: Spread some tomato sauce all over risen dough; sprinkle with grated cheese and garnish to taste.
Bake pizza into a preheated 375°F [190°C] oven, for 20 to 25 minutes.
Leave pizza to rest for a little while, before cutting and serving.

  • 2 tablespoons [30 g] sugar
  • 1 teaspoon [5 mL] salt
  • 1 tablespoon [15 g] shortening
  • 1 1/3 cups [330 mL] boiling water
  • 1 pack [15 g / 1 tablespoon] active dry yeast
  • 2/3 cup [160 mL] hot, yet not boiling water
  • Approximately 4 cups [560 g] flour
  • Away from heat, mix together sugar, salt and shortening into boiling water, stirring until warm.
  • Mix together yeast and hot water, then stir into warm sugar mixture.
  • Stir in enough of the flour to get a thick dough that does not stick any more to your fingers.
  • Grease a pizza plate; line plate with pizza dough.
  • Leave dough to rise for approximately 15 minutes.
