- 3 tablespoons [45 mL] cornstarch
- 2 cups [500 mL] milk [2% m.s.g. or less]
- 2 tablespoons [30 mL] brown sugar, sugar [30 g] or fructose
- 1 teaspoon [5 mL] vanilla, or any other extract

- Mix together cornstarch and a little of the milk.
- Pour in remaining milk; mix in brown sugar or sugar or fructose.
- Mix well.
- Cook stirring over low heat, into a double-boiler if possible, until mixture starts to thicken.
- Boil for approximately 2 minutes.
- Leave to coolcompletely, then mix in vanilla or any other desired extract.
- Spoon into 4 individual dessert dishes.
- Refrigerate until set, before serving.
