  • 1 cup [250 mL] chopped dates
  • 1 cup [250 mL] chopped stoned prunes
  • 1 cup [250 mL] cold water
  • 1/4 pound [113 g] margarine, melted
  • 1 cup [250 mL] raisins
  • 1 cup [140 g] flour
  • 1 teaspoon [5 mL] baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon [1 mL] salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup [250 mL] chopped nuts
  • 1/4 teaspoon [1 mL] cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon [1 mL] nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon [5 mL] vanilla
  • Into a casserole, mix together chopped dates and prunes into cold water; bring to a boil and leave to boil for 3 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and mix in melted margarine and raisins; leave to cool completely.
  • Preheat oven to 350°F [180°C].
  • Into a bowl, mix together flour, baking soda, salt, egg, chopped nuts, cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla.
  • Well mix in cooled fruits mixture.
  • Pour into a cake pan.
  • Bake into preheated oven for 25 à 30 minutes.
