- 1 cup [250 mL] chopped dates
- 1 cup [250 mL] chopped stoned prunes
- 1 cup [250 mL] cold water
- 1/4 pound [113 g] margarine, melted
- 1 cup [250 mL] raisins
- 1 cup [140 g] flour
- 1 teaspoon [5 mL] baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon [1 mL] salt
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup [250 mL] chopped nuts
- 1/4 teaspoon [1 mL] cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon [1 mL] nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon [5 mL] vanilla

- Into a casserole, mix together chopped dates and prunes into cold water; bring to a boil and leave to boil for 3 minutes.
- Remove from heat and mix in melted margarine and raisins; leave to cool completely.
- Preheat oven to 350°F [180°C].
- Into a bowl, mix together flour, baking soda, salt, egg, chopped nuts, cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla.
- Well mix in cooled fruits mixture.
- Pour into a cake pan.
- Bake into preheated oven for 25 à 30 minutes.
